Given the range of materials and tools available for mosaic art today, this medium is clearly enjoying a remarkable revival. In the last 10 years I have seen the on-line mosaic community evolve from discussions of flower pot designs to dazzling three dimensional abstract pieces using every imaginable tessera. Because a modern mosaic can package function, form, composition and statement in bold and durable media, the potential for producing highly original and visually stunning artwork is simply enormous. I particularly enjoy three dimensional outdoor pieces, where sunlight, vegetation, landscaping and even electric lighting can help a piece identify with its surroundings to deliver maximum visual impact. My goal as an artist is to contribute to the movement that is driving mosaic to a new level of expression and beauty.
